The Millennium Forum in conjunction with sponsors Nicholl Fuel Oils and Arts and Business NI is inviting entries for a brand new art competition - Take Your Oil! And Warm Your Community.  This competition is aimed at pupils in year 11, 12 and 13, with a host of fabulous prizes for one lucky winner on offer: 1000 litres of oil for the winning school, 10 hours of free professional art facilitation for 10 students (from UV Arts); in addition, the winning art piece will be laminated and transferred onto Nicholl Fuel Oil tankers for everyone to appreciate.   The Millennium Forum will also display the entries in its main piazza area for its customers and the general public to enjoy.

Cara Mc Cartney, Sponsorship and Development Officer at the Millennium Forum, said:

“This is an excellent opportunity to recognise and encourage the artistic talent of students in our community. It is an exciting new partnership which will give additional exposure for student artists’ work both in the Millennium Forum as well as on the actual oil tankers of Nicholl Fuel Oils.  We anticipate that the competition will get lots of participants and we look forward to handing over the prize to the deserving winner.”

Gary Nicholl, Director at Nicholl Fuel Oils added: “We are delighted to be able to team up with the Millennium Forum for this fantastic initiative.  We are a family owned business who have been working alongside our community since 1962.  Take Your Oil and Warm Your Community will work to enhance our connections with local schools and young people.  We are excited to see the artists entries and to showcase the winning entry on our tankers so that everyone one can appreciate it.”

Participants in year 11, 12 and 13 are asked to think about what makes their community a warm one to live in.  It could be about the people, characters or buildings around them.
